Who is AOS Metals?
Created in 2012 as a hobby for the long cold winters of Wyoming, artist and Owner, Kari Johnson, found a love for all things metal. She began her journey with simple beads and wire that she could easily fit in her suitcase while travelling and eventually grew into repurposing anything she could find when stationary at home. The original company name Art of Simplicity was derived from the wide arrangement of craft items she created with the simple classic style of clean lines and muted colors.
As a few years went by her focus became more on the jewelry alone and the obsession of how metal can be manipulated leading to the rebranding in 2016 to AOS Metals. Still loving the simplicity and classic style of most of her creations Art of Simplicity was shortened to AOS and Metals was added to emphasize her work.
In 2016 Kari was awarded a winner of the Kick Start Art challenge in Downtown Scranton PA enabling her to open her very own studio. In 2017 AOS Metals was awarded New & Emerging Business of the Year by the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and they enjoyed an incredible 3 years in a magic space of Bogart Court's Artist Alley. Unfortunately when Covid hit we switched up business plans and closed the original brick and mortar location. Staying true to our roots, you can still find the biggest selection of AOS available in Scranton at On & On Marketplace on Capouse Ave.
Kari now travels with her dog Milo in her renovated 1976 Travel Trailer that she has turned into a mobile studio!

What is Gold Filled?
Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, which must constitute at least 5% of the item's total weight, mechanically bonded to sterling silver or a base metal.
Some high quality gold-filled pieces have the same appearance as 14 karat (58%) gold. Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate.
What does this mean for you?
By using gold filled material it allows us as designers to be able to offer you a product at a great price that will last for many years to come!
